My name is Courtney. I am a Social Worker/ Counsellor registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).
Waapoone means “Butterfly” in Anishnaabemowin. The caterpillar has the ability within to transform into a butterfly. I believe people have the same potential for transformation; to grow, to change, and move forward in their life. Counselling is a safe and supportive space to self-reflect, feel understood, heal, work on coping strategies and find your inner strength.
Each person comes with their own life experiences, strengths and needs. Building upon this principle, I tailor my therapeutic approach to you, using several modalities including: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT); mindfulness; strength based solution focused; and attachment focused therapies. My practice is trauma informed. I work with adults, youth and children (8+).
My areas of focus are:
- Life transitions
- Self Esteem
- Grief and loss
- Loneliness/ Feelings of Disconnection
- Impacts of trauma
- Family and relationship stress
- Foster placement and/or adoption experiences
I look forward to working with you
