Hi there!

If you are reading this, you are probably taking the first steps towards starting your therapy journey. Take a moment and applaud yourself. This is no small feat, and you should be proud!

My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam. I have always had a strong drive to help and understand others. I started my academic career with a focus on physical health in a BSc in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University, but later switched to psychology and knew I had made the right choice. While I loved learning about physical health, and still do, there was something so intimate and interesting about how connected our mental health is to our relationships, perceptions, behaviors, and environments. And even more interesting that while these all ultimately shape our experience, we have the power to shape them as well. I now have a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology and Communications from the University of Ottawa, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and receive ongoing supervision with Pamela Green (M.A., Registered Psychotherapist).

I believe in a holistic approach, considering the self as a whole and prioritize a strong therapeutic relationship rooted in trust and open communication. I also emphasize working collaboratively and creating a safe, non-judgmental zone, where clients feel free to explore, learn, and reach their goals. I am currently available to work with individuals ages 15+, and couples, who are looking for support in areas including anxiety, self-esteem, emotion regulation, stress, relationships, and trauma.

I want to help guide my clients to a more positive and understanding relationship with themselves and others and help them to build self-autonomy and coping skills as they are ultimately the experts in their own lives. While I believe in tailoring my approach to each client, the modalities I use most to help achieve those goals are Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Trauma Informed, and Humanistic.
