Allison Young | Ontario Counselling and Psychotherapy

When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves. Viktor Frankl

I am inspired by people who are trying to address significant challenges in their lives.  It is difficult to do this alone.  I see myself as someone who can listen with curiosity and empathy, support you to process your experiences, and collaborate with you to identify a way forward that makes sense in your life circumstances.

My approach to psychotherapy is client centered which means I am not here to judge but to create a safe and respectful environment for you to explore your concerns.  I believe that every individual possesses an innate ability for self-direction and problem-solving.  I also believe that developing self-awareness is critical to support personal growth and healing.

In addition to psychotherapy, I am also a certified Somatic Movement Therapist.  I use somatic or body awareness to help clients notice the story their body is telling, and to experience their body as a place of safety and support.

I acknowledge that each person comes with a unique cultural and social background, and I honour that by bringing openness, curiosity and respect to my work with you.

I am available for a 50 minute free first session to understand what you want to address and to see if we would be a good fit.  Virtual and in-person appointments available, and I work some evenings.
