Hi there, my name is Alyssa and I believe that everyone has a unique experience filled with challenges that deserves to be shared. Therapy can be a safe space where you can share your unique story and find comfort knowing you aren’t alone. I want to help you get to know yourself better so that together we can work towards your goals and find solace.
I decided to become a therapist after experiencing my own battle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. It is thanks to my own struggles that I discovered I want to help others be the change they desire to live a better, happier, and healthier life. I hope to work with people of various backgrounds and experiences such as those with borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, couples, addictions, those in conflict with the law, and trauma. I am also LGBTQ+ friendly.
My experience working so closely with addictions as a Harm Reduction Worker has shown me how drug addiction can impact and influence one’s life as well as their choices. It has also introduced me to some wonderful people that have stories filled with trauma. This experience working at a Safe Injection Site has only strengthened my desire to work with those suffering from addictions on their path to recovery, whatever that might look like.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and am currently completing my master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. I am completing my counselling practicum under Yoshie Martinez, M.Ed. Registered Psychotherapist.
For whatever reason you are seeking a therapist, I understand that your issues might be complex, and that’s okay. I want to be here to listen through the complexities of your story so that I can gain a better understanding of the beautiful and unique person that you are. If you’re looking for any information or want to work with me, feel free to reach out via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
