We all face life challenges that may paralyze us and impede our functioning and personal growth. When we feel stuck and overwhelmed by life difficulties, counselling and psychotherapy can facilitate change.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and counselling services in private practice to individual adults and youths (18 and older) in Ottawa.

I support individuals in the following areas of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, low mood and depression, stress management, grief and loss, assertiveness, relationship difficulties, self-esteem and identity issues, challenging life transitions, cultural and diversity concerns, among others.

Why Seek Counselling?

We all face life challenges that may paralyze us and impede our functioning and personal growth. When we feel stuck and overwhelmed by life difficulties, counselling and psychotherapy can facilitate change. Individuals who engage in counselling and psychotherapy can benefit from:

  • Gaining insight and a better understanding of their situations
  • Learning new skills and coping strategies to manage problems
  • Learning healthier ways of communicating and relating to others
  • Learning ways to regulate strong emotions such as anger and sadness
  • Feeling empowered by rediscovering or developing personal strengths and resources

My Approach

I believe the relationship between a therapist and a client is one of the most significant predictors of positive change in therapy. In my practice, I strive to build a strong therapeutic alliance with clients in order for them to feel safe and supported while working towards their goals. I approach clients from a person-centered, strength-based, and collaborative perspective, honoring their knowledge of themselves and respecting that they are the experts in their lives. I believe everyone has the ability to gain control over their lives despite faced barriers, and that given the right environment, tools and support, they can achieve their goals and move forward. I work towards empowering clients so they can create positive change and a future with possibilities for themselves.

As for my theoretical orientation, I acknowledge every client is unique and I integrate a variety of modalities to best fit the client’s needs. I use Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

My Qualifications

I have a B.A. Honours in Psychology and a M.Ed. in Counselling from the University of Ottawa. I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario (#3606), and I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (#2479).

I have been in private practice since 2015 and prior to venturing into private practice, I worked for 8 years in the mental health field for a few non-profit community organizations, providing services to individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental illnesses, addictions, and sexual trauma.

I continuously work towards improving myself professionally and I often engage in further education. For example, I have extensive training in Narrative Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and EMDR.

I would love to work with each and every person who contacts me. I currently have a waiting list and it saddens me to say that there is a bit of a wait time before I can see you. Please contact me to be added to my wait list or with any questions you may have. You can contact the main line of the centre if you’d like to know who has room.
