I’ve been providing addiction and mental health counselling to adults in community health for several years. I’ve worked with people with many different concerns and life experiences and have found that I work particularly well with those who have busy, active minds and tend to be curious and reflective, but still get stuck in patterns that are hard to change. You might feel mentally overloaded, have emotions that can be hard to manage, be hard on yourself, struggle to follow through on things you want to do, or feel like you’re not where you should be, even when parts of your life are going well. For some people, ADHD is part of the picture.

In therapy, we can slow things down and look more closely at what is happening: the patterns you find yourself returning to, what you are feeling or needing in those moments, and what might be contributing to the way you respond. I tend to follow what feels most important to you rather than coming into sessions with a fixed agenda, and I try not to assume that I know what an experience means for you. We can try to make sense of it together and see where that takes us. That might mean exploring something more deeply, developing greater acceptance, trying practical strategies, or finding more flexibility and choice in how you respond.

The relationship we build is an important part of therapy. Feeling understood, being able to be honest about what is and isn’t working, and having space to explore things without judgment can make it easier to look at difficult experiences more openly and consider possibilities that may have been harder to see on your own.

As part of my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, I am completing my clinical practicum at OCP under the supervision of Yena Bi, M.Ed., R.P., and Yoshie Martinez, M.Ed., R.P., C.C.C., SEP.
